How to Reach UVCE: Bus & Metro Guide for KR Circle and JB Campus
University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) operates across two campuses: the historic KR Circle Campus (near Vidhana Soudha) and the vast Jnanabharathi (JB) Campus (off Mysore Road).
Depending on your branch and year, you might need to travel to either (or both). Getting to the wrong campus on exam day is a nightmare you want to avoid! Here is your comprehensive travel guide.
1. Reaching the KR Circle Campus
Who goes here?
Branches: CSE, ISE, ECE, EEE, and Mechanical Engineering.
First Years: Most 1st-year classes for these branches are held here.
By Metro (The Fastest Way)
Bangalore traffic is unpredictable, but the Metro is reliable.
Line: Purple Line.
Station: Sir M. Visvesvaraya Station (Central College).
Exit: Take the exit marked for "Central College" or "UVCE". You will step out directly in front of the college gate.
By Bus (BMTC)
Bus Stop: K.R. Circle or Maharani College.
From Majestic (Kempegowda Bus Station): It is a 15-minute walk or a short auto ride (approx ₹40-50). If you want to take a bus from Majestic, look for platform numbers heading towards Corporation/Vidhana Soudha.
Common Bus Numbers: Any bus in the 215 series, 300 series, or buses going towards Shivajinagar/Majestic usually pass through KR Circle.
Note for Mechanical Students
If you are looking for the Mechanical Block, it is not inside the main quadrangle building. It is located across the road. You may need to cross the street after exiting the main gate.
2. Reaching the Jnanabharathi (JB) Campus
Who goes here?
Branches: Civil Engineering and Architecture.
Hostels: The main boys' and girls' hostels are located here.
By Metro
Line: Purple Line.
Station: Jnanabharathi Station or Pattanagere Station.
Last Mile: The campus is huge (it's a forest!). From the metro station, you cannot walk to the department. You must take a Shared Auto or the Campus Internal Bus to reach the Civil/Architecture block.
By Bus
Destination: Bangalore University Gate (Mysore Road).
Bus Numbers: Look for buses going towards Kengeri, Bidadi, or RR Nagar. Common series: 220, 222, 226.
Internal Loop: Once you reach the University Gate, hop on the specific "Campus Loop" buses that connect the Administrative Block, Library, and Departments inside the vast JB campus.
3. Traveling Between Campuses
During college fests like Impetus or Milagro, or for certain labs, you might need to travel from KR Circle to JB (or vice versa).
Don't take the Bus: The road traffic on Mysore Road is heavy.
Take the Metro: It is the smartest option. Take the metro from Sir MV Station to Jnanabharathi Station. It takes about 20-25 minutes and is air-conditioned comfort.
Summary Checklist
CSE/ISE/ECE/EEE/Mech: Go to KR Circle (Sir MV Metro Station).
Civil/Architecture: Go to JB Campus (Jnanabharathi Metro Station).
