Life at UVCE in 2025 vs 1975: What Has Changed and What Never Will
Life at UVCE:
2025 v/s 1975
There has been a drastic change in the UVCE when you compare it in the span of 50 years. It has certainly evolved in the years. The infra, the teaching methodologies, exam patterns, code of conduct, library, etc.
Infrastructure and Development
The infrastructure has certainly bettered, but still not too upgraded for sure. There has to be still improvements in the laboratories currently. Physics and that lab of PPS above the library.
Infra wise, now the government has supplied some funds. As on Day 22, Ayaan had written the article on “The 85 Crore upgrade: A Deep Dive into the New 8 floor Mechanical Block”. The library has upgraded for sure.
The Library Transformation
In my previous articles, I had mentioned the difficulties of the library in 1975.
There was no catalogue, there was this partiality in providing the reference materials, there were no enough resources, hence it was only your personal materials back then.
Cut to today’s state of library, there is a sea of books, reference guides, papers, etc. We do have a catalogue for each department now. Also there is no partiality now. Anyone can give his id to scan and borrow any book from the library. Also there is a digital library too.
Hence in the matters of library, there has been a great change.
Administration & Environment
The famous “Nale Banni” culture of 1975s is I guess a myth now. The office staff are friendly, they respond to the queries, try to solve all the issues. There is also no scene of that sleepy clerk sitting outside of the office.
UVCE has changed its stereotype from typical Government college to the level of disciplined distinct precious institutions. As of 2025, it has been a top choice for the KCET toppers. It is because of the amazing environment, cool schedule and ofcourse the placement statistics.
The Canteen Chronicles
The Canteen culture has seen its ups and downs, there used to be the famous canteen in UVCE back then where you used to get the famous “Bisi Ili Baath” and the “Masala Cockroach Dosa”, now it is not present. In today’s day, we have a Nandini Canteen at the top of the RG, fulfilling the legacy of then UVCE canteen.
Discipline & Innovation
A strictness, a discipline has also been inducted in the recent years, there cannot be anymore threats, murderous displays against the teachers. Hence once the teachers who used to roam in gangs altogether during the times of exam mania can now roam anywhere without fear but with full of esteem.
Also since the 2000s, since the IEEE induction, conducting of events such as Kagada, IMPETUS, and several workshops has been a common schedule now. Also in the recent days the bridge between the Marvel and the E-Cell, has given a great kick off to the entrepreneurship ideas.
