This page summarizes the officially approved Undergraduate Rules & Regulations – 2025, implemented from the Academic Year 2025–26 onwards. These regulations govern academics, evaluation, progression, discipline, and graduation for all UG students.
Academic Framework
Attendance Requirements
Students must maintain the minimum attendance prescribed by the University and Departments to be eligible for Semester End Examinations (SEE). Condonation, if applicable, shall follow University norms and approvals.
Credit-Based System
UVCE follows a semester-based credit system. Credits are assigned based on lecture, tutorial, laboratory, project, and internship components. All credits earned are recorded in the Grade Card.
Grading & Performance
Evaluation follows an absolute grading system. Student performance is measured using SGPA and CGPA. A course is successfully completed only after satisfying both Continuous Assessment (CA) and SEE requirements.

- Continuous Assessment (CA) + Semester End Examination (SEE)
- Separate passing requirements for theory, lab, project & internship components
- Re-evaluation and supplementary examinations as per University norms
Academic Integrity
Any form of malpractice, plagiarism, impersonation, or unfair means is treated as a serious violation and attracts strict disciplinary action.
Progression & Duration Rules
Semester Progression
- Automatic progression from odd to even semester
- Progression to higher semesters subject to clearance of required lower semester courses
- All degree requirements must be completed within the maximum duration
Special Academic Opportunities
Minor Degree
Students may earn a Minor Degree by completing prescribed credits in a discipline other than their major, subject to eligibility and seat availability.
B.Tech (Honours)
Honours Degree allows advanced specialization within the major discipline through additional credits, subject to eligibility and performance criteria.
Micro-Specialization
Micro-Specializations enable focused learning in emerging or interdisciplinary areas through a defined set of courses and project work.
Semester Away Program (SAP)
Eligible students may pursue one semester in Industry, Research Organizations, or reputed Institutions, subject to credit limits and approvals by UVCE.
Internship & Project Work
Practical Experience
- Mandatory Summer Internship as prescribed in the curriculum
- B.Tech Project carried out in two phases (BTP-I & BTP-II)
- Internships and projects are evaluated and credited
Campus Conduct & Discipline
Student Conduct
- Strict prohibition of ragging in any form
- Adherence to classroom, laboratory, and campus discipline
- Proper use of institutional resources and facilities
- Compliance with University circulars and notifications
Summer Term Regulations
Summer Term Guidelines
- Summer Term is optional and conducted during vacation
- Offered primarily for failed courses
- Minimum student strength required to offer a course
- Same evaluation standards as regular semester
- No guarantee that all courses will be offered
Semester Away Program Details
SAP Requirements
- Available during VII Semester
- Duration: Minimum 16 weeks, Maximum 24 weeks
- Credits earned are capped as per University norms
- Evaluation is done by UVCE based on host reports
- Students must return for VIII Semester as per Academic Calendar
Additional Academic Credentials
Minor, Honours & Micro-Specialization
- Minor Degree requires completion of prescribed credits in another discipline
- Honours requires additional credits in the same discipline
- Micro-Specialization is limited to approved course baskets
- Simultaneous registration is subject to academic load limits
- Failure to complete requirements results in normal B.Tech degree
Examination Rules & Conduct
Examination Guidelines
- Absence from SEE without approval leads to F or I grade
- Malpractice leads to cancellation of exam and disciplinary action
- Re-evaluation and photocopy allowed as per notification
- Supplementary examinations conducted during Summer Term
Academic Grievances & Appeals
Grievance Redressal Process
- Students may approach Faculty Advisor first
- Unresolved matters escalate to DUGC (Departmental UG Committee)
- Further appeal may be made to Dean (Academic)
- All decisions of the Academic Senate are final
Award of Degree & Classification
Degree Requirements
- Degree awarded only after Senate approval
- All dues must be cleared
- Maximum duration rules strictly enforced
- Class awarded based on final CGPA
- No disciplinary action pending
Interpretation & Amendments
Regulatory Authority
The University reserves the right to amend, interpret, or modify these regulations at any time. In case of ambiguity, the decision of the Academic Senate is final.
